Question:
I am told that GHI insurance rarely covers lap band surgery, Is this true?

I am not familiar with this insurance, but when I was researching my LapBand, I called my insurance company and asked them straight up. You might try that.. be slick and ask what doctors their patients have used for the procedure in the past. ;)

Ellen, The easiest and most reliable way tog et this info is to ask the insurance company.Ask if they cover the Lap BAnd and if so what is their criteria.If they say no ask them for the specific exclusion.Make sure you write down names,times and dates as you may need them for future reference.You can also find a surgeon who takes this insurance and find out from them.
