Question:
I'm considering having Breast Implants done...but
I am also a candidate to have the GBY Surgery done.I know that my breast will shrink after I've lost weight, so should I get the implants done before or after surgery, or will it make a difference? — nicole D. (posted on February 5, 2004)

I am not sure what the GBY surgery is but I would say wait on the implants
until you see what you are dealing with after your weight loss. I have
already had to buy 2 different bras in only 4 months so I would just say
wait.

I personally would wait until after WLS to do any kind of reconstructive or
plastic surgery. You may have excess skin after you lose the weight and
they can take that off at the same time they give you implants. It will
make for a much nicer finished product. As it is, if you get the implants
before WLS, you may not be happy with how your breasts look and will have
to pay to get them fixed - why go thru two surgeries if you don't have to?

AFTER !!! THEY MAY WANT TO GO SOUTH AFTER YOU WT. LOSS. Then you can give
them a pick-me-up.

DEFINITELY WAIT! I was one of the lucky ones who lost weight and what
small breasts I was left with decided to stay where they belong....LOL. So
I had breast implants and that was that (one of the best things I've ever
done!) If you have breast implants now, the implant will more than likely
be under the muscle. They will stay there when you lose weight, but the
rest of your breast tissue will more than likely sag and then you'd have a
mound where your breast used to be (the implant) and then the excess skin
hanging off the end....NOT a pretty sight! Not only that, but when getting
implants, the surgeon makes his decision on whether to place the implant
below the muscle or above the muscle based on how much breast tissue you
have to cover it. If you have no real breast tissue left (fat), then it
has to go under the muscle or you'd see the exact shape of the implant
under the skin (I'd think a person wouldn't want this unless they'd decided
to go into X-rated movies, if you know what I mean). Good luck to you!

I would definitely wait until at least 1 year afterwards, to allow for
weight loss. I will be 3 years post-op in May and i'm looking into having
my breasts done now.

Well, it's unanimous! WAIT. I went from a "firm" 44DD to a VERY
LONG and LOW "roll 'em up" 36C with the weight loss. Your
implants might end up resting on your knees if you do that first!
