Question:
Did anyone suffer from sciatica while in the hospital after surgery?

I can't say that I had sciatica, but my lower back hurt more than the
surgery did! I had surgery Thursday morning . . . Thursday night I slept
sitting up in a chair cause my back hurt so much.

I am a year post-op down 163 pounds almost to goal. I woke up one morning
with a foot drop and numbness in my left leg and foot with foot drop.
Turns out it is my perineal nerve and two herniated discs. Neurologist
says it's from being overweight for so long and then the rapid weightloss
the body shifted from supporting the heavy weight.

My sciatica did not start bothering me until a week after surgery. I am now
6 mos post op and I have had 3 epidural's to stop the pain. I am sooo much
better now.

I have back problems including sciatica. Two days before my surgery I went
to my chiropractor which I do monthly to have my lower back worked on
before I went in. I was so glad. I had tremendous back pain from laying on
the operating table but thank heavens no sciatica with it. I couldn't have
stood both. However on week 3 it started, I ask my surgeon if I could go to
the chiropractor, much to my surprise he said yes, (open rny) I went two
days ago and the sciatica is much better. Hope this helps.
