Question:
Is there a time limit before I can go swimming?
I just wondered if the chlorine would bother the incision. I am 2-weeks post-op` — Denise D. (posted on July 12, 2003)

Be sure to check with your surgeon .... many surgeons want the incision
completely closed before they allow swimming. Hope you can go swimming
soon.

Open or lap? Lap is probably okay now - open needs more time to heal.

I had mine lap and my dr. told me as soon as the steri-strips fall off, and
the scabs on each incision have fallen off, and it's obvious each of the
incisions have healed, then it's ok to get in a pool.

As most others mentioned here, you need to wait until your incision(s) are
completely healed. For me, I was able to swim around the 3rd week out, so
it shouldn't be too much longer now for you :)

I am just over two weeks out now from open RNY. I saw my doc this past
Thursday, and he told me to wait until the scabs along my incision fall off
to get in the pool. Once those are gone he said it was safe. I am hoping
that it will maybe be just another week.
