My doctor has this as one of his suggestions after surgery. We are discharged from the hospital on soft foods, not liquids, so we are allowed to eat things like the pintos and cheese, KFC mashed potatoes and creamy or strained soups. The food counts for the Pintos & Cheese are 180 cals, 7g fat, 20g carbs, 9g protein, 7g fiber, 1g sugars, 15mg cholesterol, 660mg sodium. You can find food counts for most large restaurant chains and nearly anything else at www.calorieking.com. I go there all the time to keep a handle on what I'm eating.

Hi. I eat the beans at Taco Bell all the time. In fact, I buy the Taco Bell brand of refried no fat beans at the store. I divide the can up into 5 servings, add a little bit a Taco Bell mild sauce and sprinkle cheese ontop. I take these to work all the time! And sometimes for dinner I will heat one up and eat it with a few baked Tostitos. The Taco Bell Fat Free Refried Beans states it is about 4 servings, 100 calories, no fat, no cholesterol, and 6 grams of protein. Plus the protein of the cheese. This is one of my favorites to eat! (Besides pieces of apple dipped into peanut butter!)

According to most labels, refried beans in the can are only 1-2 grams of fat. "No fat" isn't really worth what they hike the price up for!
