No, blood in the stool is never normal. Time to call the doctor.

Hi, Christina, I am 4 mths. post-op and to answer your question alittle bit
could be normal and you might need to take some more fiber in your diet
like citracil or metamucil or something like that, but if you are too
concerned then call your doctor just to make sure. Good Luck!!!

I am also on liquids and I noticed red stool. It was red raspberry crystal
lite. Black stools indicate blood unless youre straining. I am a new one
week post op (again). Had revision. If the stool is like diarhea then if it
is bright red it is straining. Like the last poster call the doc just to be
sure

As an RN, I will try and answer your question. Bright red blood in the
stool is either a hemorroid or a more serious condition involving your
colon and you should consult your doctor. Blood from the upper small
intestine and stomach would appear almost black in color. If you ate
anything red, there is a good chance that is what is coming out. I don't
know if you ever had a baby, but if they eat greens, they poop green, red
or orange baby food equals red or orange poop. Go over the foods you have
eaten in the last 24 hours.
