Question:
Is it ok to put salt and peper on your mashed patatos when your 3 weeks post op?

I was using Indian curry, Thai curry paste, and cayenne (not all at once)
in my broth/soups about three-four weeks post op...just try a little at
first and see if it sits well with you!

I found in fact that I liked pepper even MORE after surgery. Weird huh?

just my two cents.......... Im 2 weeks Post-OP..... I started getting
sickening abdominal pain. Went to my 2 week Post-OP visit and doc said
everything Im feeling is normal. Then met with the dietician for my phase 2
diet and she warned me to be mild on spices for a few weeks
"Espescially pepper". I asked why and she said because pepper
stimulates and disrupt the gastric juices and at this stage of post op it
could mean alot of discomfort........ ironically the evening before that
terrible abdominal pain began I was experimenting with pepper in my
diet.....
go figure

I started eating mild salsa at about 3-4 weeks. I used it instead of
ketchup to help moisten things. If you can tolerate it, go for it. I find
I rarely use salt and pepper now. I guess it's because the things I used
to put it on I don't eat any more. The meats and things I usually eat
have sauces etc. on them already.

I have found since my surgery (I'm 9 mos post op) that flavor is very
important to me. I don't care for really spicey things, but I never did.
I love a good wing, every now and then with some mild sauce but nothing too
zingy! I just figure since I can only eat a few ounces, I want it to taste
really, really good. Eating slowly has really helped me enjoy the flavor
of foods. Good Luck!

I agree that since we get to eat so little, it better taste good! My only
additional advice is to be careful with the amount of salt you use. As we
all know, salt will create thirst, and at three weeks out you're probably
not even getting the recommended 64 ounces of water a day. Too much salt
could increase your danger of dehydration, so use sparingly.
