Question:
Is it ok to use VANILLA SOY MILK to mix with my Carnation Intant breakfeast?

Um, NO. You shouldn't be using CIB in the first place. It's a poor source
of available protein and is high in carbs. Cow's milk, even
"non-fat" is very high in carbs and will just keep the pounds on
you... it's meant to grow and fatten baby cows very quickly! Soy milk is
also high carb. <p>If you really want to rocket your weight loss
forward, you need to be drinking a high quality whey protein mixed with
WATER and nothing else. See Vitalady's website for cheap samples and more
information... http://www.vitalady.com -- she is a 9 year post-op and KNOWS
HER STUFF! Good luck!

I'm not familiar with soy milk...but I would think that if it has similar
calories and protein to regular milk it would be o.k. I know my
nutritionist recommends CIB and I recently went on their website and found
some really good recipes to mix in fruits and yogurt. Best wishes!

I just looked at the label on a carton of Vanilla soy milk I have (for my
vegetarian nieces cause I can't stand the stuff). Anyway a 1 cup serving
has 19 g of carbs and only 7 g of protein.

You're going to get very different opinions on this one. If you're early
post-op, like the first few months, I really see nothing wrong with using
CIB. I used it for a few months and it didn't hurt me. On the other hand,
it is quite abit of sugar (NSA CIB with milk is like 25 grams sugar and
alot of carbs) But it's so hard to get in protein at first, many surgeons
suggest using it. SO if vanilla soy milk is similar to milk, then go ahead.
I just wouldn't use it longterm- for the amount of sugar and carbs in CIB,
the protein isn't worth it. Goodluck to you!

You should compare calories and protein of the brand you are drinking vice
just using fat free milk. Soy Dream Beverage has about the same protein as
fat free milk, but almost double the calories. Better then milk Vanilla
has about 2 grams of protein with the same amount of calories as fat free
milk. So, is it ok to mix the NSA CIB with your vanilla soy milk?
Probably, but its gonna be more calories then if you just use fat free
milk.

Ummm...it seems that most of the posters have said 'no'. That is a bit odd
to me. It also seems that most of them have added that it is a 'no'
because of the carbs & sugars and that it will slow your weightloss.
With ANY food/drink choice you make, please do an overall view. You may
very well be one of millions who can afford the extra carbs or whatever.
Do you really want this to be a race or do you want to feel good as you
continue to lose. Soy milk is much easier on your digestive system than
regular FF milk is. Being lactose intolerant I find it a Godsend. At one
month I was down 30 lbs. That may not be enough for those who are racing
to the 'finish line', but it is great with me.
Good luck!
