What is the difference in the RDY distal and proximal
What is the difference in the proximal and distal RDY..esp would like to hear from pts from San Antonio,TX... I am 5 days post op-open RDY.....doing good..eating anything....thanks for all the well wishes...I cant stay on line long....it hurts!!! I will check email daily...thanks Beth — Beth L. Beth- do you mean RNY? I've never heard of RDY, unless it was a typo or
something. Anyway, the RNY (gastric bypass) can be proximal or distal. It
refers to the amount of intestines bypassed. Usually around 100 cm or less
is proximal and 150 cm or more is distal. (Usually more than that).

do you mean RNY, not RDY? The Proximal and distal means the length of
intestine that was bypassed. You can find more info on this matter if you
go to Library and put the words in the search area there.

I am ten days post op & I asked my surgeon about this when I had my
surgery, they told me that they do neither at BTC. They always take the
same amount, as they want the amount of intestines left below the Y the
same for all. That was in Ypsilanti, Im not sure if that helps but I hope
so.
