Question:
Liquid Vitamins - looking for opinions
My surgeon and dietician don't have a problem with them, but I was concerned with absorption. Is that a problem? Anyone else doing liquid vits? thanks — Princess D. (posted on March 25, 2003)

It was a big waste of money for me to buy liquid vits. The taste was so
bad I could not even swallow it. Had to spit it out in the sink. Then
poured the whole bottle down the drain. I found chewable Centrum at
Wal-Mart and use those. It has an orange tangy taste. They dont taste as
good as the kids chewable but my doc said both are just fine to use.

I also use the chewable centrum. The liquid is just plain nasty.

I am not sure about absorption but I couldn't get them down at all. They
tasted horrid so I ended up wasting money by dumping them down the drain. I
tried the liquid calcium and sublingual b12. I now take all my stuff in
either chewable or a pill that I swallow. I would much rather do that.

I think they are ok to take. I actually just talked to my doctor about this
today. I was thinking of taking them instead of regular pills, but he said
absorption wise- it doesn't make a difference. I had thought liquid got
better absorbed than regular vitamins but i was wrong. So if it's easier to
take than pills, go for it. Goodluck to you

I have a friend that takes Seasilver liquid vitamins and she loves them.
She let me try them and they actually taste pretty good. Sort of a light
cranberry flavor. They also have just about every vitamin in them! I have
heard absorption is better with liquid than with pill form but that's just
what I have heard. I don't actually have hard facts to back it up. Good
luck!

I agree the Centrum Chewables taste much better than the Centrum Liquid.
The Shakelee Liquid Vitimins are worst! However Shakelee have more vitamins
than most brands. If you can take the taste then those are good.

I've used Liquid Vitamins but they are pretty gross! However, most
pharmacies now have a flavoring system for flavoring liquid medications and
there's about 40 different flavors they can add. I've had mine flavored
orange and raspberry, but usually still need to mix it in about 3 oz. of
orange juice....much easier to just cut a horse-size multi-vitamin in half
and take them!
