Question:
are preop ultrasounds on the legs common?
I looked in the library, but I couldn't find an answer to my question. I read on the message board today about an ultrasound test that's done to check for blood clots in the legs. Is this a common preop test? — Donna H. (posted on February 18, 2003)

I think I am safe in saying this is not common. However, if you have
circulation problems or a history of clots your doctor may feel it is
warranted. Just go with what they want, it's for your safety.

An ultrasound of my legs was part of my presurgical work up. I did not
have a history of blood clots. Good luck to you on your journey. (Open

lbs to goal.)
