Question:
Has anyone out there felt like they did everything wrong, but ...
Has anyone out there besides me felt like they did everything wrong or are doing everything wrong but lost 100lbs to 150lbs and are still loosing weight? I have never really thought about food until I got this surgery and not doing the right things scares the heck out of me. Is there anyone else out there like me? — Angela B. Well, hello. You can't get much wronger than me in terms of what I did
post-op (which was pretty much nothing), but I have somehow managed to lose
80lbs. Now, that's the good news. The bad news is that I still have
30lbs. to go and am fighting for each last pound-even though I am now
pretty much with the program in terms of water, exercise, vites, etc.
Plus, I think I lost it a lot slower than many others. I am ten months out
and still not at goal. Anyway, my advice is to follow your doctor's
instructions as best you can...it will hold you in good stead in the long
run.

Its funny that you mention this question because I sit here and can
honestly say I have not followed the entire rules since day one. Most would
say your doing wrong if you dont follow the wls rules....So do I think I am
doing something wrong, or did something wrong..NOPE because even though I
am a slow loser, I still managed to lose and am down to 146.5 from a high
of 280...I dont live my life on a diet and following all the wls makes me
feel like that so I do what I feel is best for me and live as
"normal" as possible....dont let this scare you hon, just take it
day by day and do ur best k. I am sure you will be a success!!

That's me me me!!! I have followed a few rules like: I don't take gelcaps,
I didn't touch carbonated beverages for 7 months, I don't eat soft bread or
rice, I chew my food very well, I didn't mess with sugar until I was
diagnosed with hypoglycemia, I had to stop taking anti-inflammatory meds,
and I think that's about it. All the other rules dealing with diet,
exercise, water intake, sugar, protein shakes, vitamins, ect. went out the
window. Not intentionally, if you read my profile, you'll see that I
didn't have a choice. I wanted to follow the rules, I just had so many
problems that the rules didn't apply majority of the time. I say majority,
cuz now that I can keep water down, I need to drink more!!!

I'm usually a softie on most matters here...but here's the deal from my
POV. You don't have to be fanatical about the rules and yes you will still
lose weight. But two things: 1) I was pretty fanatical for about ten
months, but have loosened up now. I am grateful that I did teach myself
some discipline over those ten months, so I can maintain most of the rules.
I don't want to gain ANY of this weight BACK. 2) Please, for your own
sake, for your health, make sure you get in enough water and take your
vitamins. You want to be healthy, not just thin! Good Luck! ~Paula M,

That is me as well! I'm not proud of it at all, but there is alot I do
"wrong" or don't folow some of the rules. I eat candy, I
probably eat more carbs than some (but I do make sure to do the protein
first, or with- never just carbs) Although I do make sure to wait 30
minutes after meals to drink, I don't wait the 30 mn. rule of water
beforehand. I've lost great amount of weight, over 105 lbs. in 8 1/2
months. And I am 15 away from my goal. IThe loss has gotten a little
slower, but I expected that b/c the 1st 6 months are the best! But i think
I'll be at my goal by May. One good thing I do, which in my mind makes up
for some bad habits: I exercise. I lift weights and do cardio combined
atleast an hour each time 4-5 days a week. I just want to make sure that
once I am at goal, I can maintain it there and not gain! (I also make sure
to take all my vitamins, i know how impt. that is!) Goodluck to you! don't
think of it as a diet and rules, think of it as a lifesyle change, and we
eat smaller amounts!
