Question:
diareah

I have not had any symptoms of nausea or sweats or dizzyness. But when I have my bowel movements ( discusting topic ) It is very runny like diareah. Is this normal or is something wrong, I am 2 weeks post op so I am on full liquids and have been able to drink the broth in full 8 oz cups.    — Karen A. (posted on January 14, 2003)

I had the same problem at 2 weeks. Lemme tell ya, it gets better. :) I'm five weeks post op, and I'm back to normal, for the most part. Hang in there, things do improve. :)

Ditto what Diana said ... I'm 4 weeks post and my bms are small, but not runny anymore. I took some imodium (I tested it in water first - it dissolves almost immediately) and that helped. Take a half or quarter dose and see if that helps.

If you don't have solid food in your system, you won't have solid stool.

Two weeks, two days postop and had first formed bm two days ago then back to loose. Since we are only taking liquids it makes sense that are stools are loose.

I had the same problem when I was early post-op. As you incorporate solids back into your diet it does get better. I also wanted to mention that nausea, sweats, and dizziness are not the only symptoms of dumping. Diarrhea can be a sign of dumping too. In my case I find that if I eat too much sugar I feel the sweaty, dizzy, nausea type symptoms. But if I consume foods that are high in fat I get a bad case of diarrhea. Of course, everyone is different. Open RNY 07/08/03 current weight 269lbs (down 119lbs)

I had diarrhea for about 5 weeks after surgery. For breakfast I would have peanut butter on a graham cracker or yogart or milk with a bite of cereal (this was on week 2) I wasn't required to go through the liquid, pured then soft. I was on food when I left the hospital, only instructions were to chew and small bites. Well any way my choices were causing the problem. Once I started eatting egg, dry toast got rid of the grahm cracker things went back to normal. Just check what your eatting. 4 months out I can now eat the yogurt, but still stay away from the sugar...Good Luck
