Question:
If I chew my vitamin and then immediately drink water is the vitamin as effective?
Because of the taste of the vitamin, I can only wait about 5 minutes before I have to drink water and I am wondering if the effectivness of the vitamin is washed away and my body not able to absorb it because of the water? How long should I wait after chewing the vitamin to drink water? — Angela B. (posted on November 20, 2002)

I was told to wait 30 min. before drinking. I take the Flinestone
chewables and they taste good, so I don't have to drink after taking them.

I would think that the absorption of the vitamins - just with the
absorption of the nutrients in food - occurs in the intestines rather than
the stomach. Thus it probably does not make a difference if you drink
water after taking your vitamin. You may want to double-check with your
doctor, though.

The vitamins are absorbed in the intestine rather than the stomach. A
drink of water with them actually aids the absorption.
