Question:
I just got my results from my sleep study
And it said that i stopped breathing 70 times in 2 hours. Now I'm afraid to sleep. I havne't gotten my cpap machine yet but they said when i get it, it will be set at 17 and the highest it goes is 25. this has really got me thinking that each night i go to sleep I may not wake up. Anyone else out there with similar results? — Stacy I. (posted on September 12, 2002)

I do not understand why you do not have a machine yet. My pressure was set
at 10 and my case was rushed for the severity of the apnea. I had a
machine in three days. You need to let the doctor know you want this
rushed. You will fill SOOOOOOOO much better within just a few nights on
the machine.

I had similar results. I stopped breathing twice a minute for up to 10 sec
each time. My oxygen level dropped to 46%. I have a V-pap machine and I
bet you will too with settings that high. A standard bi-pap machine
doesn't go that high. I also have to have oxygen supplement in my machine.
Which is set at 22-16 so yours will be higher than mine. It is a
challenge to keep the mask on at my setting. You should have fun. My
hubby offers to get out the duct tape for me!! LOL You will be surprised
how much better you will feel once you get use to it. I too was afraid to
sleep after they told me my oxygen level drop so low. I called the doctors
office and bugged them until they put a rush on it. I had my machine with
in one day. After the results are seen by the right person they will
realize you desperately need this machine to help your problem. Keep
bugging the doctor that sent you for the study. And don't give in. I had
a nurse tell me well you have went this long without a c-pap machine a
couple more days won't hurt. I said listen this is my life you are messing
with a couple of days can make a difference. I was in to see the doctor
with in hours!!! Good Luck and Sweet Dreams!!! Kim
