Question:
If you live in Atlanta, Georgia or the Metropolitan area of Georgia ... HELP ME

I am looking for an Internal Medicine doctor (or some call them a PCP) that is versed in Gastric Bypass patients and knows how to follow up with me post-op. I don't think that my doctor has ever had a gastric bypass patient and really cannot give me any advice, nor am I comfortable with the fact that he does not know how to treat a gastric bypass patient. Please supply me with doctor's names an phone numbers. I have United Healthcare Options PPO, so I can go and see almost any doctor. Thanks so much for your help.    — Angela B. I know this is probably a bit far for you, but I live in Dallas and my PCP is wonderful and a very real fan of my results. His name is Jeffrey Tharp, 678-945-8200. He has a couple nurses and an office manager that have had the surgery. I really liked him before the surgery for all my medical care and he's especially sensitive to things like the medications that I can no longer take...anti-inflamatories, oral antibiotics, etc. He always asked me if I think something will go down ok or do I want a liquid. That kind of thing. Good luck.

Hey Angela... I live in South Henry county and have I got a doc for you... Dr. Bruce Wood is in McDonough, 301 Jonesboro Rd.. phone is 770-957-8666... his office is in the Kroger Plaza if you are familiar with Mcd. at all. I have been seeing him for about 12 years and he is very nice and a good doc too. I went to him last week to discuss this surgery, he is pro-surgery, and told me that he would be more than happy to write me a letter or do whatever he could to help. He said he has 2 patients who have already had the surgery and 2 more in the approval stages and now me.. I am just getting started.. my consult with Dr. Appel is Sept. 26. He takes UHC, I have that also as primary. Good luck and let me know if you decide to give him a try!!! Pam
