Question:
Has anyone gotten an approval from Aetna
Even though you didn't have 6 months of doctor supervised diets? I'm just wondering because I have everything they ask except for that, even though I have been trying by myself but it wasn't supervised. — Stacy I. (posted on August 20, 2002)

I have Aetna HMO and did not have 6 months of supervised doc visits,
however I did have weight watchers, nutrisystem, jenny craig, and a couple
of diet clinics so that helped. Just remember..doctors and diet clinics
only keep records for a couple of years so you do not have to be perfect
with your dates and weight loss practices. I mean who the heck documented
that their whole lives.

I recently moved to a big city from a small town...I have been here 2
years...I just told my PCP what I had tried and he wrote the letter...it
was that easy...I was approved within a couple of weeks (the biggest time
coming form Dr. and surgeon and not Aetna)...

My dtr told me Aetna HMO is tghe easy co to get approval for as long as you
are above a 40 bmi...as for diet proof, provide them with any thing you can
from WW or Jenny Craig, also. I never gave th dtr anything like that, but,
I did go to my obgyn (who I have been seeing for 15 yrs) and got a copy of
all my records....The office mgr @ my surgon's office submitted this
(highlighting the wieght and date)...It was good use of showing your weight
history over the yesrs. I got approved in 2 days with only that, the psych
eval and the nutrionist. Nothing more. Had no co-morbs either. Good
Luck!
