hi there to be transected means your new pouch and old section of tummy are
stapled off and then cut into 2 separate parts the other way there are
just staple lines deviding the 2 if you are transected you rarely will
suffer a staple line disruption as scar tissue forms which creates a
tighter seal however if you do leak its usually in the very beginning and
could be fatal just having staples without transecion there is a hgher
incidence of stapleline undoing its not fatal but your food would find its
way into the unused portion of your tummy and you would then start
absorbing all the food value which would result in weight gain or slow
weight loss you would need another surgery to fix it i to my
dissapointment discvered after my surgery that i was not transected this
worries me a little but i didnt even think to ask i just assumed that the
surgery was always done transected but my surgeon is a very good one and he
reassured me that so far none of his patients have come undone hope this
helps ya :)
