Question:
How long has it taken anyone with BC/BS of Tn PPO to get approval for surgery?

I am in the waiting for approval stage of WLS surgery. I was wondering what the waiting period may be for approval with this particular type of insurance. My husbands company will be updating and making changes to the insurance plan through BC&BS OF TN - Feb.1-2002. I know as of now the WLS surgery is covered with our present plan. Im just afraid if it takes the doctors office too long to submit a letter requesting approval the plan may be changed and no longer cover the surgery. I saw Dr. Miles at MCE in Birmingham on Dec.3-2001 for my initial consultation, but have not heard back from his office. I will call his office tomorrow to see if the letter has been sent out. Maybe I can avoid a nervous breakdown by doing so. (LOL) I just dont want to be one of those patients that bugs the doctors office staff to death. Wish Me Luck-Marie    — Marie D.
