Question:
Hey, all you Dr. Phillip Schauer patients...what do I expect from here?
I am having my first appt. with Dr. Schauer on Tuesday November 27th and it is a "group" type meeting. I am kinda curious about what to expect. He wants me to bring my folder and my insurance card with me. Will I know anything? I am told to expect to be there for at least 3 hours (ugh) but if it gets me on the surgery list, I will wait for 12!!!! Any pointers would be more than appreciated. Post here or e-mail me at [email protected] Thanks to all my "new friends" for posting on my other questions....you are TERRIFIC!!!!!!!! — Linda D. (posted on November 19, 2001)

Congrats, you are on your way to a thinner healthier you. I am unique
because I have been thru both systems. The individual meeting for ME and
the group meeting for my wife whos surgery date is December 10th, I
attended Jens meeting also. The group meetings are far superior to the
individual ones. You are privately weighed, meet the staff, and Dr Schauer,
are trained extensively in the surgery and post op life. You get the list
of necessary tests and its a very complete meeting with a long question and
answer time. I was very impressed with how complete this meeting was. Be
warned that delays can and do occur, and depending on a variety of things
the meeting may run long. Surgery tests and scheduling take a long time so
be patient. I am glad to report the staff is working hard to catch up, the
surgery has become very popular and the office is overwhelmed with new
patients. I have spoken with Dr Schauer and he cares a lot and is working
to improve his office staff that handles the paperwork..
