I'm ten weeks post-op. I've eaten hot dogs...but I make sure to buy Kosher
Hebrew Nationals (all beef, no pork or other "fillers") that are
also 97% fat free. HTH.

At this early stage, I would caution you to remove the casing
and to smoosh it up. But, why bother? Now's the time to develop
healthy eating habits.

I eat Ball Park fat free hot dogs all the time. My favourite way to eat
them is cut up in 98% fat free baked bean. Yup, beans and weenies! I add a
bit of equal and some mustard and heat up in the microwave. I started
eating this at about 1 month post-op. Just a reminder that we all tolerate
different things and not ALL hot dogs are bad for you. Good luck!

When I was about 4 weeks post op my family was having chili dogs for
dinner. I was on pureed or soft foods at the time so I took about 1/4 of a
hot dog and a little chili and put it in the food processor. It looked
REALLY gross (I had to cover it between bites) but it sure tasted great!
After eating bland stuff for a month it was a real treat. I will have a hot
dog every now and then but know I have to chew them very well because they
are soft it is easy to forget and swallow a chunk that could get stuck.

My doc had hot dogs as one of the permitted foods I could have just 5 days
Post-OP, so I had 2 with buns and relish/mustard - ummmm. I ate them whole
(not mushed/mashed) and chewed them well. I ate 2 more (with buns, mustard
& relish)
the following day. And after getting my hot dog fix for the year, I threw
the remainder out as hot dogs are NOT a good
food to eat anytime. The next time I plan to have one is next Summer at
some Bar-B-Q to get my yearly "fix."
