I don't know about everyone here, but my dietician had a few things she had
to establish. 1-do I understand the diet. In this case I had to look like
I understood her and ask questions. 2-does she think that I (the patient)
am someone that can adhere to such a strict diet. In this instance, truth
worked for me. I told her I was a heavy soda drinker. That I understood
that this would be a no-no post-op. Letting them know that you are eager
for the lifestyle change...rather than dreading it.
As every nutritionist is different, it's hard to gauge what each one's
personality is like. You're best be is to seem friendly, attentive and
most of all, willing to learn. Ask questions and say stuff like "you
mean like I should have been eating this whole time" Another thing
that works with both nutritionists and psychaitrists is this: tell them
that you're not so much an emotion eater. You are the kind of person that
just doesn't feel full. Hence the large volumes. I wish you the best of
luck on your successful journey.
