Question:
Anyone out there HAD RNY surgery that has Hepatitis?
I have talked to the office over the phone and they said that HCV was no problem, but I want to know if anyone out there has had RNY surgery that has Hepatitis? and how that has effected them. I read a post about somone saying they were opened up and told they had cerossis and couldnt continue with the surgery? I NEED this surgery or my liver will continue to fail faster.. — Tina B. I was infected with Hepatitis A when I was 7 years old. (From a drinking
fountain, or so I was told. It was an epidemic in my school.) It wasn't a
fun experience from what I can remember. Anyway, I am now almost 4 months
postop, but when my doc opened me up, the veins in my stomach were HUGE and
when he cut my stomach he nicked one and it caused me to bleed a lot. (My
family tells me that he said he knew I either had cirrosis of the liver or
Hepatitis at one time..) but he fixed me all up and afterwards I went to a
gastroenterologist for a dilation.. He didn't see anything wrong but ran
all kinds of labwork on me anyway.. He couldnt find a trace of B or C, but
said I had A at one time, that I was fine. Good luck from this former
Heppie :) Feel free to mail me if you have any questions.
