Question:
How do I know how much sugar is in something I eat? If I eat 1/4 the serving size...

Here is an example.. If an item of food you want to eat has say 10g Sugar. And the serving size is 1/2 cup. But you can only eat 1/4 cup. Does that mean I had 5g sugar? Is that the same way for Fats too? ALso, I have read many times, but I just want to double check I didn't read it wrong.. For a RNY patient, we can have 12g sugar each meal? Or each day? Thanks for the help, Annie    — Annie R. (posted on July 15, 2001)

Anne, yes, that is how you figure out the # of grams of sugar, fat, etc... If you eat 1/2 of the serving size then you can halve everything on the nutrition list for each serving. Works the other way, too. If you eat a cup, then double the numbers. Shelley
