Question:
Anyone had congestive heart failure with pulmonary hypertension?
I have congestive heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. Is there anyone out there that has had WLS with these. I know that I am a risk for surgery of any kind, but I will die without losing weight. Too many co-morbities! — Patricia L. (posted on May 27, 2001)

Patricia,
My dad had those same problems. He had the rny 1 yr ago. he has lost 100
lbs and is doing great. He fought his insurance company for 2 years to get
the surgery. Because he had to wait so long he will be on oxygen the rest
of his life. He did have to be on a ventalator in the hospital for a
couple of days. good luck to you and let me know if you have more
questions.

My Mom has pulmonary hypertension and last year had congestive
heart failure with it. That is an awful disease. I'm so sorry
you have to have it and weight related problems with it.
If you have the surgery make sure you keep moving your legs
alot. I was moving and flexing my legs and feet alot. My Mom
got PH from a blood clot that moved to her lungs after a
cross country train ride. I went out of my way to keep moving
them after surgery... move em, move em, move em! Plus you
MUST be extra careful to do the lung exercises they tell you
to do! It WILL hurt... but you MUST do them. And faithfully.
You do not want pnemonia too. Good luck.
