Question:
Will my surgeon still do the surgery?

I have 19 days until my surgery and I noticed my ears have been hurting. If I call my pcp tomorrow will my surgeon still do the surgery if I need an antibiotic? I was told they offer 5 day antibiotic? Is that better?    — [Anonymous] (posted on January 24, 2001)

I got pharyngitis three days before my surgery. My PCP gave me a shot of decadron (steroid to dry up fluid) and rocephin (strong antibiotic) in the office and sent me home with zithromax (the 5 day antibiotic). I called my surgeon and he said it would be fine. Ultimately, it's up to your surgeon. I wouldn't risk not telling him. Good luck!
