Question:
Will an appeal letter to my insurance company for an exclusion really help?
Hi, I recently have been denied coverage for my gastric bypass on the grounds of an seemingly ironclad exclusion. Do I stand a chance, if I write an appeal letter? Thanks..... — [Anonymous] (posted on October 1, 2000)

In my opinion...what could it hurt..I'm in the middle of a fight with both
my insurance companies and the way I look at it is that I can say to myself
that I really tried. Self payers(which is probably what I'm going to end
up being) dish out a heck of a lot of money that most of all the others
don't have to. I will have this surgery one way or the other but it is
really wrong that some of us have to pay...this keeps me going on the
fight..I'm prepared to take this as far as I can before I give up..good
luck
