If you already have been approved and have a surg date there are several
things you can do. 1) call your case worker and tell her that you have surg
scedualed for may 11 but your benefits end on april 30th and see if they
are still planning to cover the surg.you do not need to tell her what kind
of surg if you think that will make her/him biased against you. 2) you can
appeal the end of your benefits and they still have to cover your medical
until after the appeal.

How ironic is that.. I have medicaid too and my benefits are going to
expire April 30th also. Don't know what state you are in but I qualify for
spend-down which is like paying a deductible and your 'deductible' is based
on your monthly income. If you'd like to talk I can explain more about it
just e-mail me.

I would call your surgeons office everyday till the end of april and see if
anyone cancels. Let them know what has happened maybe someone who was
scheduled for end of april will switch places with you if the surgeons
office explains this might be your only chance i know as anxous as i was if
i thought it was someones only chance i would have traded days
Best Wishes Hope it happens for ya.

Beth is right, I ran into this situation before my tubal back in 2001,
APPEAL it! As long as your tied up in appeals, your benifits still
continue! Take it from me, you can keep it in appeals for 6 months LOL Just
make sure you get everything in writing...NEVER take someones word for it
that you are in an appeal!

I don't know what state you live in but Medicaid have to pay for anything
approved for up to three months before benefit has ended. therefore if you
are already approved for surgery before the end of benefits you can still
have your surgery, call your caseworker and have your doctor submit proof
and you are covered. I was approve for all pre-existing services up to
three months after I applied for medicaid, so even the doctor I went to
before I got on was paid.... Good luck

I have to agree with the others. Appeals and seeing if someone might
switch dates with you. I realize each state is different, but I just dont
understand why they would approve you and then discontinue your coverage.
That is definately up for an appeal. I have worked in the insurance
business and I really couldn't see why they wouldn't cover it, epsecially
since they approved it. Good luck. I know Medicaid is hard. I got very
lucky, approved in 3 months, usually it can takes years.
