Question:
Are Fuzzy Naval and Roadside Lemonade protein drinks considered clear liquids?

I just had to do 2 days of clear liquids to have tests done at the hospital
and they told me NO to my Nectar. I missed it sooo much.

If you cant see clearly through it, it is NOT a clear liquid. :)
NO - nectar, orange juice, coffee with cream, grapefruit juice, milk...
etc
Its a sure way to get your surgery cancelled - too much risk of aspiration.
Aspiration can lead to pneumonia and even death!

When I had to do clear liquids for colon prep (age, not WLS related), I
used the Nectars with no ill effect. It's the same as juice that packs a
nutritonal wallop. My doc was good with it once I showed it to him and he
was satisfied that it was still "water". Your own doc would be
the one to ask, but be sure he knows of what you speak. If you said
"protein", he may visual Boost or something, which is most
deiniftely NOT clear, by anyone's stds.

The Dr I used to work for said "If you can't read the newspaper
through it, it's not a clear liquid." I don't know if you are asking
for a test prep or after surgery but something ot keep in mind it that
protein in any form nectar or shake does not usually count trowards your
daily liquid intake after the first 2 weeks it is important to consume (
minmum) the same ounces in water, decaf tea, sugar free koolaid and crystal
light as you do in grams of protein to prevent the accumlation of protein
to form kidney stones as a post op this is very important. So for example
60 grams of protein = min. 60+ ounces of liquid
Hope this helps......Nancy
