Question:
Can I use Ipecac?
I retch violently a whole lot of the time and can't bring much of anything up to relieve it. Is it safe to use Ipecac occasionally to help me vomit? Thank you!
Hugs,
Tracy — Tracydarlin (posted on August 30, 2004)

Why are you having troubles? You REALLY want to avoid throwing up. Its
tough on our pouches. Have you seen your surgeon about this?

I'd have better luck meeting with the president than getting into see my
surgeon, sadly enough, he is often too busy to see patients after their
post op. He only sees patients on Wednesdays, and it could take up to a
year for me to get into see him, and he will only spend five minutes with
me. It's a five hour car ride just going there.

My regular doctor wonders if it ties in with the hernia and my ulcer.

I would love to blame it on my eating habits, the trouble is, this has
happened even when I don't eat or drink anything.

Any handy advice would be aprreciated!

The reason you retch, rather than vomit is prolly because there's nothing
in pouch to vomit. Ipecac won't help that.

Find the cause. Ipecac is *not* something that anyone should use
regularly. It makes you barf because it;s toxic, and body wants to get rid
of it.

It would just flow right thru your stoma into gut, prolly *not* make you
barf, and good ness only knows what kind of havoc it might wreak.
