Question:
What did you eat yesterday?
I am 7 months post op and would like to hear from others what they eat in a normal day. I am curious about how often and how much at each setting. Also, does anyone measure their food or just eat until they feel full? — Soobie (posted on December 31, 2003)

I count calories and try to stay in the 1000-1300 calorie range.
Yesterday, for breakfast I had 7 Tablespoons of my Protein Liquid and about
3/4 cup of fruit. For Lunch I ate about half of a chargrilled chicken
salad at Chick-Fil-A. For Supper, I had about 1/2 cup tomato salad and a
crab cake. Throughout the day I had some beef jerky to munch on (about 2
ounces worth).

Yesterday for breakfast I had 2 ounces of cheese with 3 baby carrots, 16
ounce bottle of water mid-morning, lunch was 1/2 cup of stir fried
vegetables, protein shake and 2 cups of decaf tea mid-afternoon and dinner
was 1/2 cup moo shu chicken from PF Changs and a sugar free (CarbSmart) ice

Yesterday wasn't really a great food day...but here goes. No breakfast,
never do. mid morning - 3 chicken nuggets Lunch - Whopper Jr w/ cheese
less most of the bread, two fries. a couple christmas chocolates. Dinner
- 1/4 chicken breast, a bite of rice, two Tbs corn and three slices of
peaches. I made a peach cobbler and had some of that later. Then I was
starving about midnight and had 1 1/2 pieces of french toast. Add to that
some Iced tea and water all day long. Like I said, not a better food
day...

I'm a grazer...I have to be or my weight would fall off to nothing. Today
I have had several pistachio nuts, 4 crackers with peanut butter (not the
prepackaged ones...) 1/2 c of lima beans, 3 cups of decaff coffee and 32
ounces of water....oh...2 cookies also....I am one of those folks that
can't eat a bite of beef, pork, chicken or turkey without becoming
violently ill....and this is 16 months out. Prior to my 2nd surgery
(details on my profile), I could tolerate meat, but not now. I live on
cheese and legumes for protein, and the occasional egg. I can sometimes
also handle a few bites of fish or crab..and I MISS BEEF! :)

I have listed on my profile what I ate at 4.5/9/18/24 months out.
Yesterday, HMMMMM . . .
I had a boiled egg and a cup of cof-tea
(1/2 coffee and 1/2 tea--yeah, I know it sounds gross but I'm trying to
switch to tea LOL) for breakfast. Mid-morning snack was NSA yogurt. Lunch
and afternoon snack was 1 spring roll and a chinese dish with only pork and
fresh green beans in a dark sauce (no rice!). Before I left for home I had
a protein drink. Then I had 1/2 an asian chicken salad with a couple of
bites of bread for dinner. Later I had about 1/2 a pumpkin muffin top.
Before bed I ate a mini-bag of popcorn with spicy seasoning on it. (I stay
up late.)
I am just over 2 1/2 years out and had lap RNY.

Yesterday...hmmm...oh yeah! I am 11 months out and am trying to get back
on track and lose my last 5-10 pounds. So, yesterday...I had 1 protien
drink (30g), 5 super thin slices of deli turky (Louis Rich Fat Free = 90
cal) and 3/4 ounce of cheese. #2 protien drink (27g). 2 ounces of
cashews, 3 - (1/2" diameter) baked cheese snacks, and 2T. sunflower
seeds. #3 protien drink (26g). 2"x3"x1" piece of steak.
And last, but not least, 100-120 ounces of clear liquids. The only time I
measure my food is about every other month when I track my intake for one
week to see where I am really at. Other than that, I just eat when I'm
hungry (whether its 3 or 6 times a day) and then eat until I am
full...usually 1/3-2/3 cup.

Almost 18 months post-op here. Yesterday, let's see if I can remember..
9AM protein drink, 11AM protein drink, 1240PM 1/2 hamburger + bun and 8-10
french fries, 3PM rest of hamburger, 7PM pastachio nuts (about 1 cup
unshelled), 930PM 1/2 protein shake. Kind of a weird eating day for me.
Stomach didn't feel very good in the evening so didn't have a
"real" evening meal which is usually my most normal meal of the
day. Anyway, wasn't hungry for dinner, couldn't drink the entire protein
shake so just went to bed. But feel much better today and YIPEE down 2
lbs. this morning!

I'm nine months out. Yesterday I had two cups of Rocomojo roasted soy bean
coffee substitute (26 grams of protein) while I got ready for work, oatmeal
for breakfast (1/3 cup oats cooked with 2/3 cup skim milk, a tablespoon of
dried cranberries and about a tablespoon and a half of pecan pieces), 1/4
cup mixed nuts for mid-morning snack, 2 ounces of leftover lamb chop with
1/2 teaspoon steak sauce, 1/3 cup mixed veggies, and a large whole grain
cracker for lunch, a Zone Perfect protein bar for afternoon snack, and six
large shrimp with cocktail sauce for dinner. Along the way, I also ate
about six bite-size pieces of chocolate candy. The candy is not a normal
thing for me, but I might as well be honest! I also had 20 ounces of decaf
coffee, eight ounces of water, and 40 ounces of Crystal Light punch (with
the Rocomojo that was 84 ounces of liquids). Except for the candy, that's
a pretty typical food day for me. Lap RNY 4/1/03 290/188/168

Almost 23 months post-op and this entire holiday period, I have NOT been
good. So, here goes: breakfast- 1 1/2 scrambled eggs with melted cheese,
mid morning snack: small slice of pumpkin bread (oiy, the goodies at work)
and 1 small piece of chocolate. Lunch: 1/2 of a deli turkey and ham over
salad (egg, beans, lettuce, spinach, tom, carrot and broccoli), late
afternoon-the other 1/2 of the salad. 1/2 of a protein bar and some cut up
fruit on the ride home from work. 1/2 hour on the treadmill (repent,
repent!), then 4 small X-mas cookies (I know,I know, they are almost all
gone thank goodness). Dinner-mexican dish of chicken chunks with
rice/beans/corn and tomatoes, perhaps 1 cup. After dinner snacks: mini
ice cream sandwich bar and 2 small pieces of chocolate. I don't measure,
just eat until full but by now pretty much know the amounts/portion sizes.

I'm 2 yrs and 4 months out.....here goes. I have a sugar free instant
carnation shake at 7:30am with all my vitamins, around 10am I had about 10
fat free small pretzels with a tbl of peanut butter(during this time I
drank about 24-32 oz of water) Around 11:30am I had 3/4 cup of low fat
cottage cheese and a portion of colby cheese bites. At 1:45p I had 5
chicken nuggets with bbq sauce and about 1/4 of a Hersheys chocolate almond
bar. I also had about 10 ozs of diet coke(I let it sit in the water and
sip it througout the afternoon)Tonight for dinner I'll have 1/2 baked
potato, green beans and a hamburger pattie w/ cheese. I might snack on
something sweet(this is a BAD habit before I go to bed) I sometimes go to
Fitday.com and enter everything I've eaten to see how many calories I've
had, carbs and protein for the day. I recommend going to that site-it
really breaks everything down. Does anyone think I'm eating too much? I'm
at a total standstill and have gained 15-20lbs back since surgery. Any
input would be great...please contact me.

(it was late!), dinner was stire fry veggies with noodles, later was not
quite sugar free apple pie (I made it, but apples have sugar) with a dab of
non-dairy shipped topping, and last, 2 carrots. I do 4 feedings now, and
