Question:
When will my clothes be loose?
I am down 37 lbs (at 6 weeks post-op). Nothing in my closent is fitting looser...I'm still the same exact size. When will this change? — Renee B. (posted on December 28, 2003)

Renee, it depends on what size you are starting at but usually around 50-60
pounds.

I don't remember exactly when mine started feeling looser, but a wonderful
surprise is that once it starts, it goes like gangbusters. I could lose a
size in a week or so. So just keep checking your closet every week. I
skipped a size without knowing it and didn't even get to wear some of the
clothes!

That depends upon the fit of the clothes prior to any loss. A lot of my
clothes were tight so it took a while before they were loose on me.

what kind of clothes were you wearing? I am 3 1/2 weeks out and down 25.5
lbs and I notice some things feeling loser, but others don't really feel
different at all.

Do the clothes you are talking about have some stretch in them? I have
some stretch jeans that when I put them on now, don't feel the least bit
lose, yet clothes that didn't have any stretch are begining to feel looser.
You might just want to take measurements, it can be a better indicator
on how much size your losing.

Is it possible that your clothes are stretchy and may be loose without you
really knowing. If I were you I would try on some clothes a size smaller
than what you are wearing and you will probably be be very surprised. I
know that I didn't realize I was changing clothes sizes until I tried on
different sizes. I would've went on wearing my big clothes. Kudos on the
weight loss. I agree with the other poster... take measurements, its a
great tool.

I had WLS on July 28, 2003, and remember going to a clothing store and
expecting certain sizes to fit me and I was discouraged when they didn't.
But I walked everyday for a half hour. I ususally went to the stores,
malls, park. If you exercise and move around you will start shrinking. I
went from a tight 26 to a comfortable 18 and I lost 80 lbs so far. Good
luck to you!!!!

Interesting thing. It took awhile for me to start noticing my clothes
feeling really loose, like maybe 30/40 even 50 pound loss. However, once I
got closer to goal things really change! I was in size 8's at 143 pounds
and in size 4's at 130! Go figure! It will happen before you know it.
Hang in there.
