Question:
No period Since WLS?????????
I am just over 1 month post-op. I am over 1 week late for my period (not pregnant). Is this normal? I hear so often people having them for weeks after surgery, or bleeding really bad, but I'm the total opposite. What's up with my body? — Renee B. (posted on December 13, 2003)

Hi Renee... Periods are a funny thing post op. I was regular like
clockwork before WLS then the first month I was late (did not have one of
those post-op periods in the hospital like others I know). Then when I
started having it about a week late, it lasted the whole dang month and
went on like that for 5 months off and on. I'm just now regulated again
and I'm 7 months post op today. We truly lose rapidly that first 6 months
and that has a lot to do with it. It will get better dear! Congrats on
your loss so far. Lisa A. 291/174/150

periods are strange things...lol for me i hadn`t had my period for 6 months
prior to surgery then after i had it when i got home from the hospital, for
2 days , then next month i got it for 10... then nothing for another month
then by month 4 i was regular been that way ever since so unless you are
really stressed about it i wouldn`t worry to much.
ask your doc, if you feel really concerned though...

I think this is prob'ly VERY normal Renee... I didn't have a period for the
first five months after my WLS and then I bled for three weeks straight...
now it seems to be getting "back to normal" a bit... God bless
& best wishes!!

I didn't get my period for 3 months post op and now at 11 months out I am
more regular than I have ever been in my life. There is so much extra
estrogen running through your body right now and it can really wreak havoc
on the old menstrual cycle.

I didn't get my period from the time I was 7 months to 12 months out. Dr.
contributed it to the drastic change (-100lbs)

Your body is just trying to figure out what's up! If you were regular
before surgery it will be again in time. If it goes on for more than 3
months make sure to talk to your GYN so they can give you something to
force it, so you don't end up with tons of lining building up and then have
a massive period.
