Question:
Has this happened to anyone? I am 10 days post-op and I have a
place on the right side of my incision. It is about as big as a large lemon. I went to my doctor yesterday and he said it was a pocket of fluid. ( A hematoma) He said not to worry about it right now but we need to keep an eye on it. It is very bothersome and I am pretty concerned about it. Has this happened to anyone else? about 6 weeks post-op I got a small pea size knot beside my incision, it
was very sore, then one day it started seeping, kinda looked like a running
nose (grose) and then the next day it was flat. I think it might have been
a small pocket of fluid. I think the doctor is right, and you should just
watch it for alittle bit, and hopefully it will drain and go away.

Hi Lorna,
Yep - sounds like a seroma. I had one on the right end of my open incision
when I had my surgery, too. mine was about the size of my hand, and raised
up about 2 inches. My surgeon ended up lancing it, draining it, and
placing a surgical drain to get all of the gunk out of there. Honestly, it
felt so much better after he did that! I had the drain for about 10 more
days. I didn't even need antibiotics, which was nice.
Let me know if I can answer any questions, okay?

Are you sure it isn't a seroma, a hematoma is blood. Sounds to me like a
seroma like the other poster suggested.
