Question:
What can I eat?
I feel very ill prepared. I have a list of foods I can eat that came in a package from my surgeons office then my dietician gave me another list over the phone and I have heard so many different things I am lost between them. I just don't want to do anything that I am not suppossed to and I dont want to push myself toooooo fast!! what should I do what are some things I CAN eat? I had my lap ryn on Wednesday also. This is what I have had to and have
done very well with it. 1/2 Fudge poplices first thing this morning. Then
water , water and more water. sipping all the time. I think water is very
important now and forever. 4 baby spoons of cottage cheese and 2 baby
spoons of mashed potatoes. I try to eat something every 2 hours. Later
more potatoes. This was the first day I had 1 cup of skim milk with CNB,
went down great. I hope this helps. Theresa

i could only have clear liquids the first week, i loved the sugar free
popsicles and koolaid.. one thing i did was put ice in the blender with
koolaid and make a slushy it was great. good luck remember the liquid stuff
is only for a short while then you can advance

Why not follow the combined lists you were given by the professionals
you've employed while you become better educated and prepared. You've got
enough to stress over right now without adding this to it. It will come
easier as you go down the path. Good luck Wednesday and may you have a

I followed what my surgeon gave me completely. The first week was lots of
fluids, especially broth. The second week I added eggs, refried beans,
creamy natural peanut butter (the lowest sugar content I could find),
cottage cheese, yogurt and shellfish (especially shrimp and scallops).
Desserts was sugar free fudgcycle. By the end of the first month I was
eating nearly normal with exception of breads and beef. I eventually was
able to tolerate beef but too this day go light on breads because they fill
me up too quickly leaving little room for protein. Best of luck to you!

Go slow if anything. Start out like you do with babies and solid foods.
One thing at a time to see how you tollerate it. Start out with what your
surgeon has given you, if you feel you should alter that plan, discuss it
with him first, then proceed. The more you 'restrain' yourself in this
limited eating phase, the more successful you will be in the end. Strange,
but true. The first few months of eating will be the most difficult as you
are coming to grips with why you eat like you do. Add to that the fact
that you WANT to eat more and cant. Have a strong mindset to follow orders
and it will be easier.
