Question:
Can you purchase insurance to cover hospital stay only?
I am going to self-pay for the surgery. The most expensive portion will be the hospital charges. I am trying to find insurance or programs that offer assistance with hospital stays or hospital costs. — bestman (posted on August 14, 2003)

There should be something out there ... try contacting the insurance
companies ... REMEMBER though (and you'll have to look into this further),
but you should be able to write off any medical expenses that come out of
your pocket (for taxes). ALSO ... before I was married, my hubby didn't
have insurance and I talked with my doctor ... and she said to talk with
the office manager, they sometimes worked with people who didn't have
insurance, and provided service(s) at a discount, so you might want to try
that too. Good luck!! LAP RNY 08/16/03 -40

I would think it is possible. Please be cautious tho if you already have
surgery scheduled ... the insurance may be void for it since it was
pre-existing before signing for the policy.
