Question:
Calling ALL female post-ops!!!

Het, ladies! I was wondering if any of you would mind sharing your surgery scars-either open or lap. I know that there are some similar questions in the library, but a lot of those posts were from a year or so ago and I don't want to have to harass the same people for their pics! (Apparently, I wanna harass you all!) Thank you so much!    — jenn_jenn (posted on June 22, 2003)

Go to my profile, and then to my website. You will see my scar pics as an option at the top. I had open and me Dr used staples. Not what I would have liked. But reconstuction surgery gave me a beautiful scar so I got over the rail road track look of the staples.

Hi!!! My husband is 12 months out and I am 18 months out. I will have to add pics of our scars to my profile. That is actually an excellent idea. I remember looking for "scar" picts pre-op! I couldn't find any...! I scar really easily, but my hubby doesn't scar much at all. Give me a day or two and check my profile! :~)

Jennifer - I just had my surgery 3.5 weeks ago and my incision is 3 inches. I had staples and have read where some doctors use plastics that disolve. I haven't developed my pics of my incision, but go to http://www.obesitysurgerycenter.net and my doctor has a pic of how big he makes his incisions. I have been rubbing Calendula oil on my scar and it's doing really well. I used this remedy when I had another surgery and you can hardly tell where I was cut. Good luck!

Hi, I don't have pics of my scar but I can tell you that I had the same scar opened twice due to SLD and after 18 mos it is now only about four inches visible. It has faded to nothing! It looks great and I had a 16 inch incision! I did have surgical tape and glue instead of staples on the second surgery and that is a lot better. It looks a 1,000 times better than the one I had with staples. I have been going to a tanning booth and have a great tan so the 4 inch scar is kind of light colored. I won't wear a two piece bathing suit but I wouldn't anyway.

Hi I open June 3. My insision is 9 inchs long and goes into my belly button. He was worried I would lose my belly button because of it being a fake one from a TT .My doc used glue to close with. And it looks beautiful-he even got my tattoo lined back up. Just email me and I will send a pic. Autumn

I am 4 months out and down 69 pounds since my Lap RNY. I have one scar in my navel that I never could see. I have 2 tiny scars, about 1/4 inch each from the drains on my left and right side. They are completely flat. The 3 remaining scars are slightly keyloided, but not bad. Two are around 1/2 to 3/4 inch and the other is about an inch. They fade more everyday!!! Sorry no pics.

I had a lap RNY. My biggest scar was next to my belly button. It was about the size of a quarter. Of course, after my tummy tuck, it's gone forever!!
