Question:
Will I have to use the CPAP a certain amount of time BEFORE surgery?

IE will the surgeon require I spend like 3 months using it before surgery is schedule just to make sure I'm used to it? Or will it matter? Can I just get the machine and have surgery as soon as there is a free date?    — Renee B. (posted on May 21, 2003)

I would imagine that it will vary from surgeon to surgeon. My instructions that I recieved at my consultation stated that if I was not already on a C-PAP but it was determined by a sleep study that I would need one, I had to be on it for 6 weeks prior to surgery.

Hi, I also had to be on it for 6 weeks,It is not easy to be on it when you are ready to have your surgery. But it does make a differance about how much oxygen in your blood when you go in to have this surgery done.So get it and use it best you can it helped me a lot.Good Luck Robin Burch
