Question:
Is a Spinal Tap ever requested...
As pre-op testing or follow up testing? — Renee B. (posted on April 28, 2003)

I have never heard of a Dr. ordering this unless they suspect you have
meningitis or somthing like that I cant imagine any Dr. requesting this???
I wonder why you are worried about that???? Are you supposed to have
one??? I was only required to have extensive blood work and an EKG before
surgery. Of course I didnt have any co morbids either. Good luck to you.

If you need a spinal tap, you won't be getting WLS! LPs are done to look
for a source of infection not readily located by other means and if some
sort of infection in the spine/brain (or surrounding tissues) is suspected.

Guess I'm mostly curious why you ask...
