I have dreadlocks and was wondering what the affects of this surgery is on them?

I'm 7 mos out and have SisterLocks. I have had no problems with hair loss.
I go this weekend to have them tighten, but I had them tighten about 3
months ago and had to problems. I take 2 prenatel vitmins a day and eat as
much protein as I can stand.
Good luck!

A person may have hairloss regardless of what hairstyle they wear. Not
everyone will experience hairloss where it is very noticeable. Keep up
with your vitamins and dreadlock maintenance. Biotin may also help.
Hopefully with your natural style you won't experience much loss. But
remember it will grow back. "Be Happy & Nappy"

Diane, I wear my hair in a natural curly style, and like the previous
poster said, some may experience hair loss regardless of the style. I
still pre-op, but I had another sugery approx. six months ago where I was
put under general anesthesia, and I did experience hair loss; my hair is a
bit thinner, but there's nothing even close to balding or bald spots. It's
a bummer to lose hair, but the good thing is that no one notices except me
and my hairdresser. I'm taking a hair/nail supplement to get prepared for
wls.

I am way too earlier in my post op life to give you a great answer. I too
have dreadlocks (past my shoulder at this point). I know that the
condition of our dreds can often be a reflection of how healthy we are.
For more support, you might want to look up "Nappy Hair Affair".
It is a great group that has resources for hair maintenance as well doing
work building pride in children who are natural and nappy. Thanks for the
great question. I wish you lots of success my sista.
