Question:
I have low blood pressure, and have been very lightheaded- almost fainting lately...
I know my symptoms are because of low blood pressure. I have been feeling quite dizzy and lightheaded lately. I almost fainted before and my vision like went black for a second, and after eating protein and drinking water and trying salt, still didn't help that much. Just wondering if others are having the same problem. I think I might have low blood sugar, too, I don't know. I exercise 5 times a week and get weak or lightheaded after that sometimes, so I try to eat protein with carbs. I drink atleast 80oz of water a day, usually more. I also had ulcer surgery to repair a perforation 2 1/2 months ago, my BP then was like 80/50. I know it raised some for a month after, maybe to a low/normal BP, but I think it must be lower again. Any input would help me alot- thanks! — Lezlie Y. (posted on March 8, 2003)

This is very common early on. I had this problem myself. Over time it
gradully goes away. If your on any diabetic or BP meds you will have to get
off them call your PCP. By a year the stars fainting went away. Be sure to
stand up slowly.

Be sure to eat and drink just prior to exercising.v A good time for a
protein drink. I've found I have the same effect as you when exercising if
I haven't recently eaten.

I'm 22 months post op and have this problem ALL THE TIME. So far I have'nt
passed out but I have come close. My blood pressure hangs around 80/40 at
times. Then a week later it will be 110/60... then in another week back
down to around the first one. I've pressed the issue with my doctor (not
surgeon) and I'm not getting any help or ideas. I see my surgeon for my two
year check up in May. I have tons of things that are wrong that I need to
ask him about. This is one of them. This is a terrible feeling when you
almost faint.
