Question:
i'm gaining
6 weeks postop, slow loser, always a victory when I don't vomit. I lost 33 lbs., and the last 2 days the scale went up 3 lbs., not my menstrual cycle. I know I shouldn't weigh every second, but weight gain?? — elaine27 (posted on January 26, 2003)

Maybe you're going to be like me. I'm almost 3 months post-op (open
long-limb RNY) and my typical weight goes up two pounds, down one, up two,
down one, down two. It's weird but usually on Mondays I'm down at least
one often times two pounds each week.

Darlene, I'm 7 weeks post op. I've lost 30 pounds since surgery plus 30
before. I had the same experience with weight gain. My weight plateaued
for a couple of weeks (weeks 4 and 5 post op) then on the third week (week
6 post op) I gained 3 pounds! I was very upset. I couldn't understand
what made me gain. I eat mostly protein, and take a couple of protein
shakes a day, drink all my water, and work out 6 days a week. This past
week, I lost 7 pounds, the 3 I gained plus 4 more. What a relief! I don't
have any explanation for weight gain at this early stage of the game, but
if you're just patient, it'll turn around.
