Question:
Does any one have an appeal letter written by a husband or other loved one to share?
I have not yet been denied by my insurance company, but chances are that I will. I already have MY appeal letter written, but I was wondering if anyone had their spouse or another family member write one for them. If so, will you share. I am desperate. I can't handle the pain any longer. — Tonya N. (posted on January 20, 2003)

I doubt whether a letter from a spouse or other loved one would really help
much. You need to directly address the reasons for your denial. If there
is an exclusion specifically for the surgery, you will have a difficult
time overturning the denial. If they simply need information that they
didn't get, make sure they get it. I know we would all like it if the
people who reveiw the denials would focus on the emotional reasons for our
needing surgery, but they work for the insurance companies and can oply
base their decisions on the policy and its requirements.

Hi. I was denied through my husbands insurance company. I appealed and in
my packet of paperwork was my own personal 15 page letter to them and also
one from my 15 yr old daughter and one from a friend who had the
surgery.Unfortunately it didn't matter to them. There was a strict
exclusion and they stuck to it. I then applied with my insurance through
work. I sent the same letters from myself, my daughter and my friend in
with all the paper work from my pcp and my orthopedic doctor. My packet was
pretty thick! I was approved in 3 weeks. This policy did not have an
exclusion though so I don't know what made them decide that I should be
approved. I just had it in my head that those darn insurance people are
only human like us and they have to have a heart deep down inside
somewhere! Good luck to you and I say go for the emotions. Let them know
how bwd you want this! Good luck to you

Hi,
I have a 6 1/2 page letter I had prepared for Aetna, just in case, but I
was approved after just 1 day, so I saved it for anyone needing one, or for
me to reflect back to, once I cross over to a healther life.
