The best answer is "it depends". It depends on the type of surgery you had, the weight you started out at, the amount of IV fluids you had in the hospital, the post-op diet your surgeon put you on and a host of other reasons. There are two phrases to remember with regards to WLS: 1) "Everyone is different" and 2) "Your mileage may vary". <p> Personally, I lost 37 pounds in the first 17 days after surgery, but I started out at 427 pounds too...JR (open RNY 07/17 -108 lbs)

I started out at 223 (I'm 5'2") and 2-weeks out had lost 15. So far at 5-weeks postop I've lost 25.

AM 9 days out and ive only lost 10 lbs but i had complications so i was in the hospital for 5 days and was on iv fluids the whole time. Am still very swollen and have a hard time keeping my energy level up. But everyday I get better. So really it all going to be different for everyone.

what ever YOUR Weight loss is at 2 weeks,is where YOU are suposed to be. Do not start comparing yourself to others, especially this early. !!

I have to agree with the previous posters. Where you should be depends on your weight, what type of surgery you had, and many other factors. I personally had open RNY on 9-23-02 and weighed in at 396lbs. The first two weeks I lost a total of 22lbs. Now at 7 weeks I'm down 45.5lbs. I wouldn't compare yourself with others though because truly everyone loses at a different pace. Good luck!
