Question:
Any experiences with super glue on the incision, not sutures?
Any info on super glue to the incision. No staples? What a hoot. I thought they were kidding me. Any experiences good or bad with the super glue? Thanks for any or all input. — Kristee (posted on September 24, 2002)

WITH IT. WOULDN'T DO IT ANY OTHER WAY! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

Gee, I didn't realize it was super glue, but whatever it is works wonders.
My scar has no zigzags like all my other scars too. I was beginning to feel
like the bride of Frankenstein or something...The scar is straight and has
healed wonderfully.

T Correct word is DERMABOND. It's kinda like superglue but is is a Topical
Skin Adhesive and it's used to hold closed easily approximated skin edges
of wounds from surgical incisions.including punctures from minimally
invasive surgery and simple throughly cleansed,trauma-induced laceraations.
The reason why I know is because I work in Surgery and we use it all the
time. It really take's the place of stiches. Hope this information helps.

Hi, I had both staples and glue in my two surgeries. The first one I had
51 staples and in the second surgery, I had internal sutures and glue.
There is a world of difference and the glue wins hands-down. My scar
healed faster and much prettier than it did with staples. I could move
around better and the comfort level was such an improvement over staples.
I had no drainage problems with the glue but with the staples my incision
opened and drained serous fluid for 4 mos! You are very fortunate that you
can have the glue and internal sutures. Good luck!

YES! I had the glue and no staples and I think it was terrific! My scar
looks very good (4 months post) and I had no problems with opening,
infection or anything. I thought it was great and that's all my surgeon
uses I think.
