Question:

It means your blood count is low. There are a number of things that can
cause anemia, from low nutrients, to certain medications, or disease
processes. Depending on the type of anemia he may have you increase your
iron, B12, or other nutrients. If you are severly anemic, with a really
low blood count then some people have to have a transfusion. If you were
really low, he probably would have you come in to see him right away.
Anyway, without knowing any more of your history, its hard to say how he
will correct it. I was a little anemic and had to increase my iron
supplements. But it all depends on the situation. Best of luck to you.

Malynda, I am going through this myself as almost two weeks ago I found out
I am quite anemic. I had been on B12 injections already but now my iron
has dropped really low too. My PCP has me on 2cc of B12 by shot every two
weeks, 1 prenatal vitamin, 1600 mg of folic acid and 300mg iron daily in
addition to 1500mg vitamin C taken in conjunction with the iron to aid
absorption. I hope this helps. Get to your doctor and find out exactly
how low your iron is.
