Question:
I am 22 years old, and have been obese for the past 6 years.

I was fortunate to be of average weight during my childhood. I was wondering if there was anyone who was around my age post-op and still had sagging skin. i am 5'2 and 250pounds. I am hoping that i have good elasticity b/c of my age, but i know everyone is different. anyone out there similar?    — Lezlie Y. (posted on April 7, 2002)

Hi...We have a lot in common! I will be turning 22 the day of my surgery (which is in 23 days...April 30th) and I have been obese for the past six years as well. Like you, I had been average weight during childhood. Look me up in a few months and I'll let you know what kind of sagging skin I have : )

Hi, I'm 8.5 months post-op and I started almost exactly where you are. I'm 22 and started at 5'2" 256 lbs (size 22-24) the day of surgery. I'm now down to 163 (size 10-12) and would like to lose down to 130. My problem areas are my arms, my thighs, and my tummy. I do have a small overlap in the tummy area but I wouldn't even really define it as a pannus because it doesn't even touch my pubic area (I know, too much info). My arms have bat wings despite very defined muscles from working out at the gym. I don't think this will be cured without surgery, but I wore a sleeveless dress for the first time in my life at easter and my family told me that they couldn't even really notice the bat wings unless I was waving my arms. I don't really have a great deal of excess skin but I do still have troublesome fat deposits. I would definitely say the surgery is worth dealing with these. You won't be a bikini model but you will feel so much better. (BTW, my weight has always been pretty well distributed and I think this plays a part in how much extra skin you have in specific areas). Best Wishes.

Hi! I am 21, 5'6", 3 months post op and down 45ish pounds so far. I am still a little worried about saggy skin. I have read that it shouldn't be too bad if you don't have stretch marks and Drink as much water as possible (that helps elastisity). Good luck with your journey!! :)
