Question:
Has anyone heard of or used Dr. McLean in NJ?
I have a consultation with Dr. McLean, who works out of the Obesity Clinic in Morristown, NJ. He is one of 5 doctors from the clinic, but I have not seen any information on him on the site. There is plenty with Dr. Bertha and Abkins, who work with him. I chose him because he had a 3month wait for consultation, where as Bertha and Abkins had a 6 month wait, wrong choice? any help would be great! THANKS — Lezlie Y. (posted on March 27, 2002)

I just saw Dr. Edoga last week from the same clinic and office. I've heard
that they are all good, but you have to be comfortable with your choice. I
would do some more research, like asking around at the Orientation Meetings
to see if you can talk to any of his patients. When is your consult? You
will also find that the day you have your appointment, you can talk to the
other patients in the waiting room. Since each of the 5 doctors are in the
Obesity Center on a different day, you will only see his patients when you
are there. If you want my opinion, I'd go to the consult, and see what you
think of him. Although they don't say you can do this, if you don't like
him, you can probably transfer to another doctor with less waiting. If you
want to talk further, drop me a line. Good Luck! P.S. I just thought of
someone that I think had him. Try Lisa S. from NJ...

I originally was going to use Dr. Edoga, but because I use Cigna and he no
longer is in network I decided to use Dr. Abkin. He is a most excellent
surgeon. I would recommend and encourage anyone to have him perform thier
surgery. I'm sure that any surgeon associated with MMH is top notch. After
all this is a great program and they would not tarnish thier reputation by
using a less than superb Dr.
Good Luck
