Question:
Anyone get approved from AETNA PPO through AT&T employer ?
I am going through my dad's insurance and would like a surgery date for the summer because I am in college. has anyone had problems or success with aetna and AT&T. I am still young, so do not have very bad co-morbidities, i want to make sure i am approved the first time! Thanks — Lezlie Y. (posted on March 21, 2002)

Hi. I also have AEtna but not through AT&T. I was initially denied
because the Lap-Band is considered experimental so my surgeon's office just
faxed the paperwork for RNY--my case is "...in review..."
whatever that means! I've been told that they are one of the best! I
haven't had a problem so far regarding any of the pre-op testing or
surgeon's requirements. They do want a documented history of obesity for
at least 5 years, a list of dr supervised diets--I think 2 that you have
been on for at least three months each, lists of all meds, any serious
health conditions and any WL meds. One AETNA rep told me that I would need
to send in photos but that person was very, very wrong!!!!! Hope this
helps!

I had Aetna PPO through the state employees of Ohio (my husband's) and they
approved mine the first time and in only 2 1/2 weeks. I am schedualed to
have an open RNY at the Bariatric Treatment Center in Columbus, Ohio. They
did all the insurance work for me and they said the Aetna is one of the
easier ones to get approval from. Good luck!

I had AETNA thru AT&T and was approved in 48 hours.
I had 2 surgeries, and was approved quickly both times.
