Question:
Staples vs. Surgical glue?
Are there any patients of Dr. Pasupathy in Bridgeton, NJ that had surgical glue used on their incision instead of staples? — Tiffany Y. (posted on March 17, 2002)

My Dr. said surgical glue isn't strong enough for obese patients so he uses
staples. He said hernias are more likely to happen with surgical glue.

I had 17 staples from my Open RNY and I won't complain because I had no
problems whatsoever from them. But they were uncomfortable and hurt coming
out. My doctor started using surgical glue not too long after my surgery
and I wish I had been one of the lucky ones to get it. But like I said, no
cause for complaints here. I'm too happy overall with my whole experience.

My surgeon uses surigal glue and let me tell you my scar after only 10
months looks almost invisible. I have seen some of the staple scars and I
am very thankful my surgeon doens't use them.
